I did that and I started doing a Startup Repair, which took about 10 minutes. I got on the Internet using my Kindle Fire to look for a solution and learned that if I turned on the laptop and started pressing the F8 key repeatedly before the Windows 7 logo screen, it would take me to the Startup Repair menu. So I shut it off again the same as on Friday night. It would not go to the login screen like it normally did and I was very confused and I wasn't sure what had happened to cause that. The next morning I went to turn it back on and it started up as if normal, but as soon as I got past the Windows 7 slash logo, I got a black screen. I shut down the latop by holding down the Power button and forced it to shut off. I didn't know what was going on and I thought I'd wait a while longer to see if if would change, but there were no chances. Installing updates 1 of 5" for about 30 minutes. However, it remained stuck on the message, "Please do not power off or unplug your machine. Then Windows started installing updates during the shutdown process. I clicked on the Start button and clicked Shut Down. It began when I went to shut it off on a late Friday night. Sorry if this becomes rather long, but I want to describe everything that happened and what I did to try to repair it myself without any successful results. Up until now, it worked fine and I hadn't had a problem, but about a week ago on, it started having problems. I have a Toshiba Satellite C655-S5082 that I bought at Best Buy in The Highlands, Wheeling, West Virginia about 2.5 years ago.
